2022 STATEN ISLAND FEDERATION OF PTAS ESSAY AWARD CONTEST AND THE ART AWARD CONTEST

The Staten Island Federation of PTAs is once again recognizing the efforts and accomplishments of our students by providing a $1,000 scholarship award to one graduate of each Staten Island public high school, as well as one District 31 special education student. The Art Contest Recipient will also receive a $1,000 scholarship award. We honor these exceptional young people at our Annual Scholarship Luncheon, which will be held remotely this year on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Please review the attached Essay and Art Award Instructions carefully and share this information with your student body, college or transition office, AP of English and AP of Arts.

· The Deadline for the Essay and Art Contest is April 1, 2022.

· The students are instructed to submit their Essay and Student Information Sheet to the College Advisor, Transition Coordinator or School Designee by April 1, 2022.

· Art Submissions are to go to the Parent Coordinator or School Designee, by April 1, 2022.

· The Student’s name or name of a relative must not appear in the Essay or on the front of the Artwork.

· Please note the essay and art recipient must be present online to accept the award remotely on June 7, 2022.

· Each High School is to submit six (6) Essays to the Staten Island Federation of PTAs. If you do not have (6) Essay applications, a minimum of four (4) essays are required in order for your school to be considered for a scholarship.

· Additionally, D31 schools may submit one (1) Essay written by a student receiving Education Support Services.

· There is no limit to the number of Art submissions per school.

The PTA President will make arrangements with the school designee to pick up the Essay and Art submissions. All Essay and Art Submissions must be hand delivered to the SIFPTA office NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, APRIL 29th. Essays can be dropped off between Tuesday, April 26th and Friday, April 29th. Our office hours for drop-off will be between the hours of 10am to 1pm. The Federation Office is located in the Petrides Complex – 715 Ocean Terrace, Bldg. ‘A’, Room 310.
