- Starting on March 1, masks will no longer be required for unvaccinated individuals but will be strongly recommended for all individuals in most indoor settings.
- Effective on March 12, schools and child care facilities, will not be required to wear a mask but will be strongly recommended.
- Masks will still be required for everyone in high transmission settings like public transit, emergency shelters, health care settings, correctional facilities, homeless shelters, and long-term care facilities.

Public Health Guidance for K-12 Schools in California, 2021-22 School Year - Click here(link is external) In order to best protect students and staff as California starts the school year in person, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued a new public health order(link is external) on August 11, requiring all school staff to either show proof of full vaccination or be tested at least once per week. Facilities must be in full compliance with the Order by October 15, 2021.
