Larsen has been the assistant principal at Lake Orion High School since July 2021. Previously, he was an English and Health/Physical Education teacher at Lake Orion Community Schools from May 2001-August 2012 before moving on to South Lake Public Schools in St. Clair Shores where he was the district athletic director and middle school assistant principal from August 2012-July 2013.
In July 2013, Larsen returned to Lake Orion, serving as assistant principal at Oakview Middle School from 2013-19, interim principal at Paint Creek Elementary in 2019-20, and high school assistant principal from 2021 to the present.
Coming to Lapeer is a move that excites Larsen as he makes the journey north up M-24.
“I am extremely excited to be joining the staff at Lapeer Community Schools as the new Lapeer High School principal,” said Larsen. “I have heard nothing but great and positive things about the district and I am eager to start my new role and hit the ground running.”
LCS Superintendent Matt Wandrie said the hiring of Larsen is a phenomenal fit for the district.

On behalf of Lapeer Community Schools, I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Jason Larsen and his family to the Lapeer community.”
A native of Escanaba, Mich., Larsen graduated from Escanaba High School in 1996 and from Northern Michigan University in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and English. He also played football at NMU and was also a graduate assistant with the NMU football team.
Larsen continued his education at Emporia State University in Kansas, earning his master’s degree in 2008 in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. In 2013, he was awarded an education specialist degree in Education Administration from Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., where Larsen has earned his doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership.
At Lake Orion, Larsen also started the powerlifting program and won three state titles as head coach. He served as head strength and conditioning coach for the high school football and basketball teams and was also an assistant coach for the varsity football team and JV head coach.
Currently, Larsen sits on the board of the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals as the assistant principal east representative that represents Lapeer, Sanilac, Genesee, St. Clair, Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties and the city of Detroit.
Larsen is married to Elizabeth and they have four children.
